Trio de Rumba bring the fiery dance of life to Shelburne Vineyard.  Inspired by the Gitanos of Spain, Camargue, France, and throughout the Romani diaspora, their Rumba Gitano style is infused with various Romani and world music forms that have allowed them to achieve a unique sound of their own while they continue to honor the roots of music.

Performing mostly original compositions Inspired by the music and migration of the Romani people, Elijah Kraatz y Trio de Rumba’s songs are songs of migration, of longing for a homeland, of loss, hope, and resilience.

Over the course of their performance, you will hear the footwork of the Gitanos of Spain in the rhythm guitar, the beats of Africa, and Latin America in the drums, and Melodies of Spain, Eastern Europe and Arabia in the lead guitar. While the majority of these compositions are instrumental, the listener will also hear traditional songs sung in Spanish, Bosnian, Romanes, and English.

In 2019, Elijah Kraatz y Trio de Rumba played for gracious and grateful audiences at various venues, and were featured at the 2019 Vermont International Festival at the Champlain Exposition Grounds in Essex Junction, Vermont.  During the Covid outbreak of 2020,  and 2021 the group put on unique and very successful socially distant performances on the shores of Lake Champlain. Members of the audience enjoyed the music from canoes, kayaks, and sail boats.  Their enchanting performance transcended the uncertainties of the current time, at least for that musical moment.
