The Shane Murley Band consists of a rotating mix of 10 musicians that uniquely bring something fresh and original to the mix. Whether you see them stripped down as a duo, trio or up to an 8 piece band, Shane will be at the helm, allowing the musicians to be themselves and shine. From Americana Country-Folk to Alternative Rock to R&B-Soul with a Jazz-Funky twist, the band melts genres and keeps people engaged, with something for everyone. Somehow, the music just flows.

Shane was born in Houston,TX and moved to Vermont in 2001 to go to Respiratory Therapy School. Shortly after, he joined a band as a vocalist that helped lay down the ground work for years to come. In 2005, Shane graduated Respiratory therapy school. He traveled the states for 4 years, as a healthcare traveler, with his RN wife. In 2007, he picked up playing acoustic guitar, while living in San Francisco, and began learning and writing songs.

After moving back to Vermont in 2009, Shane came onto the scene as a solo act in 2010 and recruited a mandolin player and old friend Dakota Foley. Soon after, they recruited an old friend and previous band member Mike Huyler, on electric guitar. While taking care of a patient in the hospital, he met Damian Roy, who played the cajon drum. Damian joined the band and after playing together for about 3 months at random restaurant/bars, they picked up a monthly residency gig at the Vin Bar in Burlington, VT. There they recruited a violin player Ethan Waldman into the band. Since the Vin Bar beginning, the band has grown to about 10 members including 2 drummers (Damian Roy, Rich Callahan), 4 bass players (Nicolas Streeter, Dave Carlson, Eugene Rice, Thomas Carvey), violin - vox (Ethan Waldman), electric guitar - vox (Mike Huyler), mandolin - guitar - vox (Dakota Foley), piano (Adlai Waxman), Tenor Saxophone (John Clark Jr.), Alto saxophone - vox (Thomas Carvey), and Female Vocalist (Susan Hosmer).

Lately, the shows have been truly special and the band is tighter than ever. The venues are getting bigger and the smaller one's are getting packed, yet staying intimate. There's always an element of surprise, at our shows. The only truth is music and if the band is truly having fun, the audience will feel the same way. What good is music, if it can't fill the room with joy! Our fans and new faces that come out to see our shows walk away with a sense of joy and happiness, and as a band, that's all we could ever ask for.
