Do you like hard cider?

The Sensory Evaluation Laboratory from Virginia Tech is coming to Shelburne, Vermont and seeks participants to discuss their preferences on hard cider in a focus group study (IRB 20-880).

To participate in this study, you must be 21 years or older and regularly consume hard cider (at least once every two weeks). During the study, you will have the option to taste three (3) samples of hard cider. This study may last 60-90 minutes, and you will be asked to bring your government-issued ID to verify age. We have taken steps to reduce risk related to COVID-19 and will provide you with a summary of those steps prior to beginning the study.

The purpose is to identify desirable (or undesirable) sensory attributes for Northeast and Mid-Atlantic hard apple ciders and relate sensory components to consumer liking. This is a research study, and results may be published. Sessions will be audio recorded for transcription.

You will receive a $20 gift card for participating in the study, at the conclusion of the session. Participation is voluntary and will not affect your relationship with Virginia Tech or VT SEL. If interested in participating, please complete the pre-screener at this link. If chosen to participate, you will be contacted via email.

CONTACT: For more information, contact Martha Calvert (mdcalver@vt.edu). This study is supervised by Dr. Jacob Lahne.
